Featured Event: Kips Bay Decorator Show House

“Each year, celebrated interior designers transform a luxury Manhattan home into an elegant exhibition of fine furnishings, art and technology. This all began in 1973 when several dedicated supporters of the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club launched the [Kips Bay] Decorator Show House to raise critical funds for much needed after school and enrichment programs for New York City children. Over the course of four decades, this project has grown into a must-see event for thousands of design enthusiasts and is renowned for sparking interior design trends throughout the world. ”

Here is a promo video for the 2011 Show House which shows the high quality level of the show.

Last week, RenovatingNYC posted a double feature on Gunn Landscape Architecture and Vert Gardens, whose work will be featured at this event.  I’m excited to attend this event, especially given the great talents that will be collaborating on the projects and the philanthropy involved.

In addition to Gunn Landscape Architecture and Vert Gardens, world class interior designers such as Jamie Drake, Bunny Williams, Mark Hampton, Laura Bohn, Scott Sanders, and Thom Filicia, will be presenting their work.

“The Show House receives as many as 20,000 guests annually from across the nation. Since its inception, the Show House has raised over $17,000,000 for the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, which currently reaches over 12,000 young people at ten locations throughout the Bronx. Today, the club is proudly one of the most prominent and responsive youth development agencies in New York City and a “flagship” of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.”

I really love the idea of professionals coming together for a great cause.  What causes, efforts, or issues do you support?
