Sexy Light Switches and Dimmers?
Make Your Renovation Remarkable With The Details
RJ Diaz for RenovatingNYC
It’s the little things that make a difference. I see the struggle all the time with clients. They want to make sure that the money spent on their renovation is “visible”. Even with an unlimited budget, you want to maximize the return for every renovation dollar spent. Little details can go a long way to making your renovation remarkable.
Take, for instance, the beautiful functional electrical hardware being produced by Forbes & Lomax. Sometimes, a company can make something as pedestrian as a light switch become a work of art. Wouldn’t you be proud to use these every day?
Important Note: I’ve had these installed on a few high-end townhouse and apartment renovations in New York City, and the subtle effect of beautifully crafted light switches is amazing. However, it is essential that you work with a professional (architect, lighting designer, or Forbes & Lomax representative) to make sure that the switches you want to use are compatible with the lighting you have or want to install.
HISTORY OF FORBES & LOMAX
Established in London 25 years ago, Forbes & Lomax have, from the start, approached the lighting control market from an aesthetic point of view and have now become the first point of reference for architects and designers.
The elegant glass, nickel and brass switches of the 1930’s were no longer available and the modern equivalents were ugly and unsuitable for high end projects. It was with these problems in mind that Forbes & Lomax launched the Invisible Lightswitch®; a simple transparent acrylic plate allowing the wallpaper or paint to show through, with a stylish metal toggle switch in the centre.
After much thought to design and technical specification (given the difference in shape and voltage between switches and outlets in the United States, Canada and Europe), Forbes & Lomax have now launched the Invisible Lightswitch® in America and Canada.
All Forbes & Lomax U.S. products have been tested for compliance to UL and CSA safety standards by a nationally recognised testing laboratory. They are designed to fit US wall boxes.
